Health Enrichment
Partnerships with well respected non-profits, NGO’s and health education groups bolster TKP’s health education and enrichment programs. Amos Leperes, TKP’s Student Health Officer, is our lead teacher of all things health! He regularly holds community health education sessions with students, teachers and parents on hand washing, safe food handling, building latrines at home, malaria, rheumatic heart disease and more. (Our TKPx travelers often join the fun and teach lessons on hand washing and hygiene as well!)
Several times a year we bring in additional specialists with expertise in antiviolence discipline policies, HIV/AIDS teaching, and female genital mutilation (FGM) education and prevention. This type of teaching is unique to the school setting in rural Kenya and lays the foundation for community dialogue and opportunities to work together.
